Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito, 'KCR 11.18.92

I've never listened to this show, with the exception of snippets that KBL had on a tape. On it, you'll find my main stain Crazy Legs of Rock Steady, an unsigned group named Ruffneck Bastards, The Coup, Casual from Hiero, and a funny as ever Rhythm X aka Kool Keith, who rhymes, takes over the hosting duties and then takes phone calls with us for the last hour or so. Maybe tomorrow night/Friday morning at 1 AM, you could press play and zone out as if it were live. The Digable Plantets joint was for Kurious. He was feelin' that, so I figured I should play it. What was I thinking? And peep how there is absolutely no music for the last hour for crunch time- calls and bullshitting for an hour acapulco. Who was the tired dj?

I will definitely get a blunt and do that tonight
You definitely have to keep this up. Listening to these old shows and having them is the best that has happened in years.

Yo, I'm sitting here trying to work and listen to this Kool Keith interview, impossible to do both. Good looks on these posts though, growing up on the west coast, the shows were legend, you never heard tapes or anything.

"Yo, I'm really hyped your putting up these old radio shows. Shit is hype. We had a show similar called the Cultural Vibes in East lansing MI MSU 88.9 college radio and it was hosted by Jason Staton and Lady Capone (Boss's cousin), who was interviewing them on Enter the 36 lp. I would always read about your show in Rap Pages and the Source back then, but never really got to listen to very many. Peace! DJ Tekay One formally of the Starving Artists Crew (Detroit)."

keep this site UP!!! guaranteed to blow ALL OTHER wack ass blogs out the box!

P.S. do ya'll see how Nas was purposely "leaked"...that wasn't a single...its that unlike now bootleggin wasnt a concern...true heads still went out and purchased his album on cassette and cd in April 94...over a year and a half later. Technologie's a mofo!!!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Your ol' mixes would keep me company when I used to work in a basement dungeon... Now they keep me company in my own office room.

Man I miss the dungeon.

HA.

And I missed the mixes. Legendary stuff.

PLEASE DON'T STOP!

A sincere thank you from those of us outside the Tri-State area who had to listen to dub tapes NY cats threw together to catch the flavor of the show. There never was and never will be a more influential show than the one y'all put together. Thanks for doing this.

late last night i was just puffin an l and i thought i would skip through some of this show just to reminisce, i ended up listening to the whole thing straight through. that last hour had me laughing like crazy. i had to rewind some shit over and over... it was like travelling back in time.

I used to listen to this show religously and tape it too. But as time moved on my tapes got stolen, busted or lost. I have a whole slew of freestyles from the KCr days and even some from the XL Radio show. But not whole tapes, actually i have the one CD that came out on Sandbox automatic from 11/11/03 but I'm sure you at least have that. If any of this helps, hit us up at http://schnooklynzoo.blogspot.com/

yes I believe this site is helping me to stay off drugs, out of the street, and (ultimately)out of jail. does anyone know Iron Mike's email address? I think he needs a link to this. Much love and peace.

s. phill e. said...

(hard)drugs that is...I guess I should specify that. anyhow most people probably already know this but since I'm always about five years behind in technology...the longer clips like these two kcr shows i put into the "slice" program and chop them up accordingly (so i can burn them to cd) exactly where i want the tracks to start and end(always add a second at the endpoint). hope this may help some other non-computer-geek like myself. yeah, this is fun...hope there are more dope shows coming soon.

Awesome blog, I like the blurb you add about the mp3 of the show you are posting, along with the date. It gives a little bio into what was going on at the time on your show and hip hop that week. Please keep posting. I am enjoying these shows for the first time as I didn't have access to them back in the day. I am taking a trip back in time by listening to your shows/mp3's. Hard to believe how time passes...keep it up!

NICE! man this show was a blessing and a curse cuz i used to stay up late taping and then missing half the day in HS.
